We fished yesterday with a father son team of Don and Don Timberlake of VA. While they have fished a lot they have never caught a wahoo. That changed yesterday! We caught 9 big wahoo! two citations! One was50 lbs and the other was 44. We had another 39 that just missed citation weight of 40 lbs. All the fish were nice size with nothing under 20 lbs. There were a few yellow fin tuna caught in the fleet as well as some king mackerel. We are fishing again tomorrow and Wednesday so look for more good fishing up dates.

Welcome back to Hatteras!!

They are going to allow tourist back on the island this Thursday!. Boat and family is safe. I took the boat to Coinjock and evacuated to Edenton. My family went to Ayden, NC. We are all back in Hatteras Village. The Tri Villages were damaged badly. Many lost everything they own. North of Rodanthe there was a New inlet cut. Also 4 other wash overs at Pea Island. They are working hard on the road. The Army is putting up a temporary bridge. No vistors allowed in the island before Sept 17th. The fishing is good to catch everything so keep checking my blog and facebook for announcements about when they will let everyone on the island. I have the last 2 weeks of Sept open. If you want to help out Hatteras Island, then come out fishing, stay in the hotels and go out to dinner.

Capt Jim 252-305-0722

Riding the storm

We took the boat inland a bit and have everythin buttoned up. Some boats do well while others struggle to get a bite. The day before yesterday was great tuna fishing. Most all of the charter boats that were in the area did well catching 15 to 20 tuna each! Yesterday was different. We didn't have a tuna bite until after lunch. We caught dolphin while we were looking but it wasn't until we put the kite up when we started getting tuna bites. We ended up with 5 tuna out of 7 bites. We set out this morning and were hit by the dolphin ( mahi mahi ) and caught 3 . We circled back and caught 3 more! Chad said that was enough dolphin , let's go for some Sailfish. Shortly after we raised a covey but didn't connect. ( they were trying to hook their own and to be fair Dan missed one too) We caught another dolphin by "accident" and then found the sailfish again! We hooked a double header that really gave us a fit! One going north and one going south! It took a few minutes but we managed to get them both! We raised a couple more that just didn't want to eat. South west wind kinda killed the end of the day for the sails. We caught a nice 27 lb wahoo ! Nice enough to take 1st place in the wahoo category!! We finished 5th I think over all and 1st on the wahoo.
Sailfishing is getting real good!! One boat today had 7!! I can't wait to go tomorrow! We still have open days for the next 2 weeks so let's go get em!!

Hatteras fishing

I'm sorry I haven't given a report in a few days. Another day of great fishing aboard the Endorfin! We fished today with Gerald Young, Justin Young,Jessica Young, Brie Sawyer and Lisa Hamic of VA. I set out near some wrecks this morning and caught 2 amberjacks on the troll before we got all the lines out! WE finally got all the lines out and caught a sailfish. I made a couple of circles and we caught another sailfish!! Shortly after we found the dolphins. They worked on them very well and had a limit in short order! A couple of the girls were not feeling to well so we decided to make a short day out of it since we had such a good catch. We were back at the dock about noon. It was very slow marlin fishing to say the least. We fished yesterday and caught another limit of dolphin before 8:30!! We looked around for some other meat fish and found some nice 40 lb amber jacks and had a big ol cobia on for a while but we parted ways. Everyone had a good time!
Today we fished with 3 dads and 3 sons from Va and Md. Robert Booser, Glen Lucas, Marc Lucas and the boys Aric, Samual, Michael. It started a little slower for us this morning. We caught some nice gaffer dolphin early then made a stop to catch some amber jack. They were not biting good though we did catch 2. We went back to looking around and found a sailfish!! A little later we caught some more gaffers and then the bailers showed up. The guys did an awesome job catching the fish and we had our limit in no time!! I think there are three boys who are hooked on fishing now! Awesome day with a great bunch of guys. We had a bad start to the day with an oil return line breaking. We came back in took the old one off, had it fixed and put it back on intime to make it out before lunch. The tuna bite was kinda hit or miss today and with our late start we decided to bottom fish. We caught some good sized black sea bass and a tiger shark that weighed close to 300 pounds . We got back to the dock around 4:00 so they could fly back home. Some of the other boats that tuna fished cought 7 or 8 in the 50 to 60 pound range.
Give me a call and we will hook you up!!

on the way

we left Palm beach yesterday on the way to Hatteras. They even let my son Hunter come along today and got his limit too. There were a few sailfish caught today mixed in with the kings. We never had one in our spread but I did see a free jumper, Our kings this morning were in the 20 to 35 pound range. Really nice fish!! We all had a great morning and Harry can't wait to get out with us again!

This afternoon we fished with Henry Martin and his daughter Amanda. We went back to the same spot and picked up where we left off. More big smoker kings. I have to say Amanda was putting it on Dad with the biggest fish until Henry redeemed himself with a fish in the 30 pound range of his own. Fishing was pretty slow on Sat. We managed to catch a few Bonita a barracuda and a few bottom fish. Fishing over all was pretty slow for everyone. Sunday we went well off shore with the intention of deep dropping for swordfish. The conditions quickly deteriorated and made it impossible to hold near the bottom in 1800' of water. We put our trolling spread and looked hard for something that wasn't there. A few nice kings were caught early inside 100' but the afternoon produced little. It was a slow weekend but we still had fun as we always do.
The fishing in Hatteras has been much better than what we have here in Fla. right now so we have made the decision to head to Hatteras earlier than expected. I will be there some tine during the first week of April so give us a call and book your tuna trip today!

palm beach fishing 03/01/10

The Endorfin fished yesterday with Ed Elkins and his family and friends.
